Our School
The Montessori Roodeplaat Preschool is located on a small holding in Kameelfontein Estate. The school provides the children with an open environment where they can learn through exploration. There are 2 classes, 0-3 years and 3-6 years. We are a bilingual school with classes in both Afrikaans and English.
The school conducts regular meetings to encourage the positive effects on children when parents continuously support and encourage the child’s learning and development.
Our program is based on the Montessori model of human development from Maria Montessori using our experience with her published works, pedagogic, lessons and materials. With this format children choose their activities and have uninterrupted blocks of learning time.
We have been operating since 2013 as Montessori Bush Babies Preschool. We recently changed our name and will be operating as Montessori Roodeplaat Preschool from 2023.
Owner and Principal – Marichelle Morkel
In 2003 Marichelle started a family and during this time she researched child education extensively, thereby discovering the Maria Montessori’s methods characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical and social development.
Marichelle believed and trusted this to be the correct approach to children’s education in the first six years. She enthusiastically completed her Montessori training qualification in 2010 and registered her certification with the South African Montessori Association (SAMA). As a responsible care provider she also completed a first aid course.
Our Mission
We are committed to provide high quality child care and early childhood education based on the methodology and philosophy of Maria Montessori. We envisage to develop a life long love of learning in our children, thereby inspiring the pursuit of their full potential while enjoying life and contributing positively to the world.
